Designer Feature: Christina Murphy

When I was putting together my recent post on bunk beds one of the images I came across was from New York designer Christina Murphy.

She designed these awesome built-in bunk beds.

The rest of her portfolio is equally stunning.

Named one of “America’s Top 100 Designers” by House Beautiful, I was totally struck by Christina’s use of bold patterns, dramatic colour schemes and the grand scale of art and furniture that she employs in her spaces.

Here’s a little eye candy for you this Friday morning …

Look at the stunning floor tile and mirrored vanity doors!

Patterned floors and wallpaper create an intimate feel in a very small space

The details make this space … the quatrefoil mirror, the lucite table and the Missoni pillows break-up the patterned sheath of wallpaper

I love not only the blue and white colour scheme but the high gloss walls add an air of drama

Polka dots and animal print for a crib plus fabulous art create a very unique nursery

Bold mirror

I love the blend of colour with pops of pattern in this space

More bold use of colour and pattern has a dramatic effect

The textured grasscloth walls and the finishings on the staircase are stunning

This might be my favourite space … especially the art and the carpet

I just love how Christina Murphy uses colour and pattern to create spaces that are bold and dramatic but not over the top or in your face.

What do you think? Do you like colour and pattern too?
